The Client

Azure Resort (Conceptual / Academic Project)
A elegant, coastal resort and spa.

The Project

Design a cohesive wayfinding system that enhances guest navigation while reflecting the resort’s identity and integrating seamlessly into a tropical, beachfront environment.

The Approach

Inspired by the resort’s natural surroundings and architectural character, the design uses vertical forms, layered materials, and patterned details to create a sense of place.

  • Monument Sign

    Ground mounted sign with an engineered stone base and a decorative lattice made out of a powder coated aluminum that wraps around the bottom of the sign

  • Building Identification Sign

    Ground mounted with an engineered stone base with an organic shape that is accented by a decorative lattice-style powder coated aluminum frame mounted in it, wrapped in an HPL panel.

  • Site Identification Sign

    Ground mounted sign which consists of an HPL panel with wood grain finish mounted into an engineered stone base with a decorative lattice-style made out of a powder coated aluminum wrapping over the top and extruded powder coated aluminum typography.

  • Vehicular Directional

    Ground mounted resort vehicular directional signs. A rectangular engineered stone frame with decorative lattice-style made of powder coated aluminum and a solid aluminum panel wrapped around.

  • Map Directory

    Vertical sign framed in an HPL wood panel around a decorative lattice-style powder coated aluminum running through the center. The lattice is mounted in a rectangular engineered stone base.

  • Pedestrian Directional

    The frame is a rectangular engineered stone with decorative lattice and a solid aluminum panel. The solid panel sits above the lattice, flush with the stone frame to display directional information.

Typography

The resort had a Pre-established Logo and Lucida Sans is the chosen standard typography for the signs.

Materials

HPL Wood Panel

Engineered Stone

Materials were selected for durability in a tropical, coastal environment. Marine-grade metals and powder-coated aluminum were used for lettering and detailing, while stone-like composites provided visual weight and longevity. Wood elements were interpreted using weather-resistant alternatives to maintain warmth with minimal maintenance.
